May 1997 Weekly Firesides

Hear Ye, Hear Ye:

What a "Packed" Thursday it was.  Those of you that couldn't make it, missed a Great One..  :)

Kathy and I will be on the road 2 weeks at least.  Therefore we won't be able to send out these Notices for a couple of weeks, so don't Panic  :D  We'll still have the Thursday night sessions from the road, so come on by a jabber with us.  The schedules are listed below or you can check the Upcoming Events Calendar at the Main Genealogy Forum Screen.

Again we had many new visitors and "special friends".  The lecture is posted in the Lectures Library already and the Log is awaiting its turn for posting by the Librarian  :)  To the visitors last week, A Hearty Welcome to the Civil War History Forum...  :)  So come back and visit.

Now for a little news:

Our Focus with this Special Interest Group is the "History of the North American Civil War".  We do "Fireside Stories" about the battles, people and social happenings.  In addition we dedicate  one Thursday a month to sharing Songs, Poems and Letter from that era, so come back and visit....  For a full listing of upcoming events, either look on the Schedule at the end of this Notice or in the Upcoming Events of the Genealogy Forum.

As we review the logs, and we find new visitors who seem to be interested in this topic and our Thursday sessions, we automatically add you to our Weekly Notices.  And to you "First-timers" this week, "Welcome"...  :)  We certainly enjoyed your visit and participation.  We hope to see ore of you...  Note that for any reason, you desire to be removed from distribution of this "Weekly Missif", just drop us a line and we will comply with your wishes "post-haste".

Check out the Genealogy Forum Monthly Newsletter for May  :)  We have received some really good mail from you so we included it in the newsletter this month....  So, go check it out...  :)

Hear Ye, Hear Ye:

Well it's been two weeks since the last Notice.  Kathy is still on VACA having a grand time, but I'm back :)  We had a fabulous "Letters, Songs, and Poems" night before we left and it was a fun two weeks of OPEN CHAT.  So now I'm back in the saddle  :)  Next Thursday night is gonna be a neat Fireside :)  I'll be telling about the early "Mobilization and Opening Move".  So you'll want to get settled in good with your best late evening beverage and snack.  We'll get the bonfire going and be waiting for you.  :)

An Upcoming Special Event**************

You will want to mark your calendars for this one.  The date is Thursday, August 14th.  Kathy and I are incredibly please to announce a special evening with "Robert Trentham".  Robert, a tenor who has preformed with the Santa Fe Opera, the Brooklyn Philharmonic the Kennedy Center and many others, has, as a result of his own family research of Civil War Veterans, produced Musical CD of Civil War Songs (both North and South) called "Epitaph".  We're just gonna call it "An Evening With Robert Trentham"   :) and we can't wait.....
